Special arrangement for Spring 2020
Students must meet the minimum course attendance requirement of 80%, inclusive of the online lessons.
You are expected to be logged on to Zoom, ready to participate in class, by the stated start time. You should arrive a few minutes early to ensure that you have sufficient time to respond to any potential technical issues.
Excusable absences
Absences for longer periods (i.e. exceeding 20% of the classes) due to time zones difference, serious illness or hospitalization will be dealt with on an individual basis upon production of documentary proof (i.e. receipt for hospital stay etc.). Minor illnesses and attendance at academic events (such as competitions or conferences) will not be considered extenuating circumstances.
In order to fulfill the minimum attendance requirement, a student who has missed more than 20% of the classes can complete make-up work to erase the absences.
Make-up work policies for absences
Make-up work must be submitted no later than 7 days (by midnight in the student’s time zone) to your teacher. If you need additional time to complete the makeup work because of an extenuating circumstance, you will need to submit a request to your teacher for approval. Students who are excused for their absences and have completed the make-up work will then be documented as having attended the missed lesson.
