Foundation in Listening and Speaking for Postgraduate Students

Course Assessment

Students’ spoken English proficiency will be assessed based on:

  • Topic development and coherence
  • Vocabulary range and accuracy
  • Grammar range and accuracy
  • Pronunciation

Students should complete ALL of the following assessments:

  • 15% – First speaking assessment: a videoed talk about the importance of your field of study
  • 15% – Second speaking assessment: an impromptu talk to present views about a given topic
  • 20% – Independent Learning Portfolio: submissions of a plan and records of out-of-class English learning that focus on target skills
  • 50% – Final ELPA
