Welcome to the Postgraduate English for Science Studies site. LANG5010 is offered to all research degree postgraduates in the School of Science in the spring and fall semesters.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the course will:

  • understand academic, stylistic and rhetorical conventions of spoken and written research in the sciences
  • understand the importance of critique, argument and contribution in spoken and written research in the sciences
  • begin to develop an engaging style of academic writing and speaking appropriate for the sciences
  • communicate their own research persuasively to academic and non-specialist audiences by applying this learning
