Get Your Paragraph Right – Coherence & Cohesion

A paragraph is a collection of related sentences dealing with a single topic. Learning to write good paragraphs will help you stay on track when drafting and revising your writing. Good paragraphing also greatly assists your readers in following your line of thought. In this workshop, a range of writing strategies will be introduced to help participants achieve coherence and cohesion in presentation.

  2. understand the importance of maintaining the topical focus by avoiding irrelevancies
  3. identify the logical relationships among propositions
  4. organize related propositions in a logical order
  5. use various ‘coherence-creating devices’ to develop the connectivity of propositions
