陳耀華先生為前助理廣播處長(電台及節目策劃),任職香港電台(RTHK)逾三十年,主要負責電台運作,包括管理多個覆蓋全港的AM、FM及DAB廣播頻道、中英文新聞及網絡新聞服務,早年曾參與製作並主持各類電台及電視節目,如大眾熟知的《千禧年代》、《投資新世代》、《頭條新聞》及《議事論事》等。
陳先生曾參與策劃並推行「社區參與廣播服務(CIBS)」,管理「社區廣播服務基金(CIBF)」,為非政府機構和弱勢社群提供支援與資助,鼓勵其參與廣播節目製作,以推動多元文化,促進社會共融。 本次講座,陳先生將會分享其寶貴且有趣的廣播經歷,讓聽者了解電台的運作之餘,更能反思語言在交際(尤其在面對面交流)過程中「是否達意」的問題。此外,他將結合其多年的傳媒經驗,歸納語音訊息的基本特徵,進而剖析影響言語溝通的各項因素,並與大家探討語言傳意的局限性與可能性。 |

Mr CHAN Yiu-wah, former Assistant Director of Broadcasting at Radio Television Hong Kong (香港電台), was responsible for the management and operation of the territory-wide radio broadcast, the news services, and the Community Involvement Broadcasting Service (CIBS). He has presented and/or produced various radio and television programs including Talkabout (千禧年代), Investment Era (投資新世代), Legco Review (議事論事) and Headliner (頭條新聞).
In this talk, Mr Chan will share his rich and interesting experience in broadcasting, reveal elements behind the impact of voice messages, and explore the limitations and possibilities of verbal communication.
About iLANG Guest Speaker Series
The Guest Speaker Series is organized by iLANG of Center for Language Education, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. It provides opportunities for all HKUST students who are interested in the impact of communication and language on the world at large to gain valuable insights from individuals in the professional and commercial sectors from a range of backgrounds. It is our goal to broaden the experiences of our students and to equip them with the tools to face challenges in their encounters with academic, personal and professional communication.
The series debuted in Fall 2017 with three culturally diverse speakers from the finance sector. In the 2018 series, speakers with psychology or counselling expertise shared with our students how to communicate in a tense environment, and how to keep their inner being healthy and stress-free.
The series in Fall 2019 features guest speakers from leading mass media organizations in Hong Kong. In different professional roles, they excel in serving audience with expanding complexity and diversity in interest, background, and accessibility to different media choices.
These media professionals whose expertise is to communicate will share with you their unique experience in the front line and behind the scenes. Come and listen for yourself how their skills can help you further progress in effective communication.
It is our hope that these talks can open your eyes to what is going on across various sectors, and support your personal and professional development.
香港科技大學語文教育中心舉辦之「嘉賓講座系列(Guest Speaker Series)」專為有意提升語言溝通能力的學生而設,通過邀請不同界別的專業人士分享其在各領域的溝通心得,讓學生更全面地掌握言語溝通之道。學生可透過聆聽嘉賓的人生經歷,豐富自己的人生閱歷,用所學的語言傳意技巧裝備自己,以迎接未來在學術、專業及人際交往方面的挑戰。
本講座系列於2017年秋季首次推出,三位來自不同文化背景的嘉賓皆為財經界人士。2018年的系列則由經驗豐富的輔導員及心理諮詢方面的專家主講。其講述了如何在緊張的情境中實現有效溝通,如何保持平和的心態、免於壓力的侵擾。
本年度特別邀請的嘉賓,皆為本港著名傳媒機構的從業員。他們活躍於臺前幕後,面對不同背景、興趣及媒體需求的受眾,以其專業所長服務社會。他們分享寶貴的工作經驗,現身說法,讓你深入地了解不同媒體的運作,從而開闊視野,習得有效的語言溝通方式,實現個人的專業發展與自我提升。

講者: 曾志豪先生 (Mr TSANG Chi Ho)

曾志豪先生畢業於香港浸會大學新聞系,主修中文新聞,現任香港電台節目主持。其主持的節目主要包括《頭條新聞》及《瘋Show快活人》。他定期於《明報》、《蘋果日報》、《AM730》等多家報刊撰寫專欄,近年更參演「棟篤笑」,並活躍於YouTube影音分享平台。 曾先生將在是次講座中分享他從事不同媒體的工作經驗,尤其在言語溝通方面,講授如何因應受眾對媒體的多元需求,靈活有效地運用溝通技巧實現資訊的準確傳遞與接收。聽者可從跨媒體多元溝通的經驗之談中獲得啟發,習得專業的語言傳意技巧之餘,更能反思自己在人際交往中的溝通尺度是否拿捏得宜,從而完善自我。 |

How News Communicates: A Reporter’s Reflections

Speaker: Mr Alvin LUM
*This session will be conducted in English.
Mr Alvin LUM is a political journalist with the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the most established and popular English-language newspaper about HK. Mr Lum specializes in Hong Kong politics and law, with particular focuses on Legislative Council affairs, legal policy, judicial reform, and lately, the ongoing social unrest. Before joining SCMP, he has served as a reporter of the Hong Kong Economic Journal and the Citizen News. His performance was highly commended with awards from the Human Rights Press Awards and the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA). Mr Lum completed the vigorous joint degree program in the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Government and Laws) & Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Hong Kong, where he laid the strong foundations for his journalistic career. Before that, he studied at Queens’s College, Hong Kong. |

In this talk, Mr Lum will introduce to you the good practices professional journalists follow in writing news which is accurate, balanced, informative and immediate. These include:
- fact checking first hand and second hand information, and
- conducting pre-writing research and preparation.
He will also share with you how audience can read news critically by:
- heightening alertness to language use, and
- enhancing sensitivity to assumptions and perspectives adopted.
