IELTS Preparation

The IELTS Orientation course will familiarize you with the format of the various components of the test: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Strategies for handling the test will also be discussed. Former participants have found the course very useful in helping them to understand the test format and providing them with a direction for further self-access practice. The activities related to the production skills, especially speaking and writing, were most highly rated.

After completing the course, you are expected to:
  • demonstrate familiarity with the assessment format of the four components of IELTS, which include reading, listening, writing and speaking;
  • identify the common types of questions of the test;
  • demonstrate understanding of the assessment criteria by producing appropriate responses; and
  • demonstrate familiarity with test-taking strategies for IELTS and ability to choose appropriate strategies.
