IELTS Writing

For most students, the IELTS Writing Test is one of the most difficult components of the IELTS test. It consists of a short information transfer task and a longer discursive task. This course is designed to help you prepare effectively for the IELTS writing component. Both writing tasks will be thoroughly covered, with special emphasis on their diverse requirements in format, task fulfillment and language. There will be ample opportunities for hands-on practice, including question interpretation, essay planning and the actual writing task itself.

After completing the course, you are expected to:
  • demonstrate familiarity with the assessment format of the writing component of IELTS;
  • identify the common types of questions of the test;
  • demonstrate understanding of the assessment criteria of the writing component by producing appropriate responses; and
  • demonstrate familiarity with test-taking strategies for the writing component and ability to choose appropriate strategies.
