Learn to Say No:
Refusing and Disagreeing in an Appropriate Manner

In our daily life, it is inevitable to encounter moments when we have to reject or disagree with others. However, simply saying “No” may hurt our relationship with them. In order to show our politeness, there are some language strategies we can use to turn down someone’s request without being offensive.

The activity aims at exploring the following issues:

  • How to refuse something skilfully
  • How to disagree with others without offending them
  • The difference between formal and informal language
