This course will provide intensive practice in English pronunciation and will focus on difficulties faced by Chinese speakers when using English. This course is particularly aimed at students of LANG 5000 and native Putonghua speakers who would like to improve their pronunciation of English.

By taking this course you will improve your ability to:

• Pronounce English vowels, consonants and diphthongs;
• Produce sounds which are particularly difficult for speakers of Putonghua;
• Differentiate between easily confused sounds.

Other course objectives which may be covered include connected speech, intonation, word stress, sentence stress and linking.

Finally you will learn about useful resources and websites so that you can continue to practise pronunciation by yourself.
