Strategies and Practice for Successful Job Interviews


Strategies for Job Interviews aims at developing your language and communication skills, in order for you to achieve success in interviews for jobs.  You will learn how to make a positive impact in interviews by:

  • Examining what you need to know and prepare for before attending an interview
  • Looking at what to do during the interview stage, including how to answer interview questions effectively
  • Participating in a group interview, with feedback from your instructor
  • Taking part in a one-on-one mock interview, with personalized feedback from your instructor (you may request for the interview to be video recorded)
By the end of the course, you are expected to:

  1. demonstrate awareness of the interview process
  2. know how to answer common interview questions
  3. apply effective language strategies and techniques when answering interview questions
  4. realize the importance of non-verbal communication in interviews
  5. convince interviewers that you are right for the position
  6. improve your persuasive language skills, particularly with selling yourself
  7. practice what you have learned in the course through mock interviews with your instructor
Course Structure:



Day 1 – Interview input (2hrs)
Day 2 – Interview input (2hrs)
Day 3 – Interview input (2hrs)
Day 4 – Group interview practice and feedback (2 hrs, about 30mins for each student)
Day 5 or 6 – Individual interview practice and feedback (2 hrs, about 15mins for each student)
* To meet the attendance requirement, a student should not miss more than one of the sessions above.

  2. The short course will be conducted online. Please go through the guidelines here, which detail the preparation and computer equipment required, before joining in the event.
