Idioms – commonly used phrases whose meaning are different from the literal meaning of its words – are found everywhere in the English language and are an essential feature of effective communication. Learning idioms will help improve your understanding of English, make your speaking more interesting and expressive, and help you enjoy fluent conversation with native speakers.
This activity will help you:
- Understand the figurative meaning of idioms
- Practice inferring the meaning of unfamiliar idiomatic phrases
- Use idioms in different speaking situations
Please note this activity consists of Part 1 and Part 2. Part 2 will focus on idioms used in handling conflict situations. Students are welcome to join both sessions.
