The series consists of four workshops (6 hours), that will use Chinese movies as a learning resource for students whose Chinese proficiency has reached intermediate or advanced level.

This workshop series aims to:

  • Further improve learners’ Chinese proficiency with a special focus on speaking skills such as rhythm, stress, pause, tone, intonation and more;
  • Increase learners’ awareness of intercultural communication through extensive discussion on the chosen episodes from the movies;
  • Utilize ChatGPT to create a cultural context in which learners can apply the speaking skills they previously gained to “the real roles” they possess.

Notes for participants:
To ensure better implementation of the workshop series, the scholarly approach will be applied. Therefore, upon completing the workshop, both students and instructor are required to submit a self-reflection based on the guidelines provided by the workshop design team for academic purposes. The consent for data privacy may need to be signed by all participants.
