Linguistics is the scientific study of languages. An invented language is a language in which the writing system, the sounds, the morphemes and words, the grammar rules, etc. are consciously devised. In this course, you will unleash your imagination by diving into a world of linguistic creativity, inspired by iconic languages like Na’vi from Avatar and Klingon from Star Trek.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
-
analyze languages based on their writing system, sounds, words, and grammatical rules,
-
analyze a few constructed languages such as Na’vi, Klingon, Esperanto, and Sindarin,
-
create a writing system, sound system, word and sentence formation rules and distinctive vocabulary by inventing your unique language.
