Job-Seeking Skills Resources: Job Interview Skills
Group Interviews
Group interviews highlight your interpersonal skills, leadership and ability to think on your feet. The purpose of group interviews is not only for your prospective employer to hear what you say but to see HOW you behave and what SKILLS you display in a group setting.
There are several types of group discussions: you may be asked to solve problems, or discuss current topics or hypothetical company-related situations.
Before handling the question, it is important to be aware of the criteria most companies use to evaluate candidates’ performance.
Task 1
How important are these abilities in the employers’ eyes? Rank them.
Task 2
Kelvin, Angela and two other candidates, Mandy and Jeff, are invited to take part in a group discussion which is the final stage of their interview process at Crown Consulting. Now watch their interview. Make notes on their performance, and decide who you would employ. Then compare your notes with the comments of some teachers.
