Abstract
This roundtable brings together Dr. H. Wang of Cornell University and Dr. A. Jhaveri of HKUST to reflect on the Summer 2026 HKUST–Cornell collaborative course pilot, Intercultural Communication and the Role of AI. The session will explore how mixed student teams navigated intercultural, inter-institutional, and cross-time-zone collaboration while using AI as a tool for communication analysis, prompt-based inquiry, and research development. It will also consider how the instructors’ shared commitments to practice-oriented, experiential pedagogy shaped the design of the project and generated rich data for future publication on GenAI, inter-institutional collaboration, and intercultural communication. Moving from classroom practice to student-led projects and potential scholarly dissemination, the roundtable highlights the pedagogical value of experiential learning, international partnership, and AI-supported intercultural communicative competence.
