CLE Welcomes Spanish Consular Representatives during HKUST Visit

 

On 5 October 2026, the Center for Language Education (CLE) welcomed Mr. Jesús Gracia​ Aldaz, Consul General of Spain in Hong Kong, and Mr. Francisco Javier SERRA GUEVARA, Deputy Consul-General (Economic and Trade Affairs), as part of their first official visit to HKUST.

CLE introduced its mission to advance humanistic AI in language education and foster intercultural connections within and beyond Hong Kong. The presentation also highlighted its Spanish language curriculum and experiential learning activities, alongside partnerships that promote cultural understanding and global citizenship. Mr. Gracia expressed particular interest in CLE’s integration of AI into its courses and how these technologies support language learning.

The guests also toured the Language Commons and the CLE AI Lab with CLE representatives: Interim Director Ms. Jessie LAM, Associate Directors Ms. Anita AU and Dr. Min NUO, Coordinator of Third Language Curriculum & Pedagogy Dr Yin ZHONG, and Spanish Lecturer Ms. Maria Jose PAREJA LOPEZ. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange views on language education and explore possibilities for future collaboration between the CLE and the Consulate General of Spain.
