Joint Research Workshops: AI-powered Literature Review and Higher Education Research
Date: Wed, 7 Oct 2026
Time: 3:10–4:20 p.m.
Venue: Room 3018, Open Area
This session includes two back-to-back hands-on workshops:
Workshop 1: From Reading Pile to Research Gap: Preliminary Synthesis with Gemini Notebook
Facilitator: Nick Wong
|
This hands-on session introduces Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM), a free, source-grounded tool that answers only from the material you upload, and shows how it can support the earliest and hardest stage of a project: establishing what the literature already settles, where studies disagree, and which gap is genuinely yours to fill. Working from a small, well-selected set of research articles, we will identify candidate research gaps and draft research questions. Bring 5–10 PDFs in your area of interest if you would like to work on a live example. Alternatively, a set of sample articles will be provided for the activity. (As Google Gemini is not available in Hong Kong yet, colleagues are encouraged to download Proton VPN and register for a free account for this workshop: https://protonvpn.com). |
Workshop 2: Build and Automate Your Literature Search Workflow with AI Agents
Facilitator: Yin Zhong
|
This hands-on session is for colleagues interested in making literature searching more efficient and manageable. We will explore practical ways to use AI agents to streamline the search process, monitor new publications, and identify relevant and high-quality papers and journals for literature reviews. Please bring a laptop. The demonstration will use WorkBuddy AI, so pre-installation is recommended unless you are already using Codex/ChatGPT or Claude. |
