Sponsored by the Lantau Conservation Fund, the Santau Village Farm Life Gallery was established in 2022 by the South China Research Centre, HKUST, in collaboration with Santau Village near Tung Chung.
The Gallery hosts a workshop series titled “Hakka Snacks and Family-Based Hydroponic Farming,” designed to bridge the gap between new urban residents in Tung Chung New Town and their neighboring rural community. Through hands-on workshops blending traditional Hakka culinary practices with modern hydroponic techniques, participants experience a unique fusion of heritage and innovation.
Beyond fostering cross-cultural connections, the program also strengthens bonds within newly settled Tung Chung families by equipping them with the skills and tools to practice hydroponic farming at home. The sharing of farming experiences in WhatsApp group will further connect the involved families.
