Competency-based Common Core Foundation English Communication for Year 1 students: Integrating innovation in education technology and blended learning within a learner-focused competency tracking framework
Objectives
This project replaces the existing Common Core Foundation English Communication for Year 1 in the Center for Language Education (CLE) with two new courses adopting a competency-based approach to enable the courses to move away from proficiency-based learning and towards the skills, mindsets and habits needed to build the specific set of competencies needed to succeed first in students’ university lives, and professional careers once they graduate. These courses will also integrate a competency tracking system, including a competency tracking platform, through which students and teachers can track - both within and across courses - students' development and mastery of the competencies over time.
