"I'm Nevenka": A Story of Courage, Power, and Breaking the Silence

Workshop Description

In 2001, a young woman named Nevenka Fernández did something that had never been done before in Spain: she took her boss, the mayor of her city, to court for sexual harassment. She won the case—but the victory cost her nearly everything. She was judged by her community, attacked by the media, and eventually had to leave Spain to start a new life.

More than twenty years later, acclaimed Spanish director Icíar Bollaín made I'm Nevenka (Soy Nevenka), a film that brings this important story to the screen. This workshop is designed  to explore the film in more depth.

In this 90-minute session, we will:

·         Discuss the real story behind the film

·         Talk about the characters and their choices

·         Explore the film's themes: power, courage, justice, and what happens when someone speaks truth to power

·         Share our reactions and opinions
